Show & Tell

Show and Tell:
Tapping into the Body. Building Interoception
and Self-Regulation

Sarah Cox is a SEN specialist who has been using tapping with students to help them connect with their bodies, recognise their internal signals and develop the interoceptive awareness that underpins self-regulation.

Interoception helps us notice what is happening inside our bodies — from a racing heart, tight muscles or shallow breathing to hunger, tiredness and the early signs of overwhelm. Yet many young people find these signals difficult to identify, interpret or respond to.

In this Show and Tell, Sarah will share how she has introduced tapping as a practical, accessible way for students to pause, tune in and become more aware of what their bodies may be communicating. She will explore how this approach can help students feel calmer, safer and better able to identify what they need before they reach a point of dysregulation.

This session will offer a practical insight into the connection between interoception, emotional awareness and regulation — and demonstrate how simple, body-based practices can support students to understand themselves with greater confidence and compassion.
